Well… I’ve always enjoyed walking but even more so now that I’ve aquired myself a dog to accompany me. My name’s Julie and my dog’s name is Ruben and we’re both discovering even more of our own little part of France every day. By the way I named him after Ruben Xaus – A Spanish World Superbike & GP Racer.

We live in the Dordogne region of France and I recently purchased a map of local walks from our local Town Hall (called a ‘Marie’). Walkers here in France are called ‘randonneurs’ and they go on ‘promenades’ or ‘balades’. The map is specific to our Canton – Montagrier and displays either circular walks (yellow posts) or linking walks (green posts). There are 14 different circular walks varying in distance from 5.4 km to 20 km. There is a different map for each Canton!

I’ll be doing a lot more walking now with Ruben and try to take a few photo’s along the way. Keep watching…
